Amenities Officer for Purley on Thames Parish Council

The post of Amenities Officer offers the opportunity to work with the Parish Clerks and Councillors in a varied and interesting role.

The Amenities Officer will:

  • Be responsible for managing the Barn community hall which involves liaising with regular and one-off hirers and organising cleaning and maintenance.
  • Check playgrounds and oversee the other recreation facilities owned by the Parish.
  • Administrate our Allotments
  • Be based in the Parish office for administration work and liaison with Parish Councillors and the Parish Clerks.
  • Report to the Parish Clerk.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C (or equivalent) or better.
  • Reasonable computer skills (Use Outlook, Word and operate a database).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic practical skills
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

Hours: 20 hours a week.  (Core office hours are Monday 2.00 to 6.30 and Thursday 9.00 to 2.30.)  Timing of the remaining hours will be decided in discussion with the Clerk. Some evening and weekend work will be necessary.
Salary: £10,503 per annum.
Annual Leave: 20 days per year rising to 25 days after 5 years employment plus statutory bank and public holidays.
Pension: Purley on Thames operates the contributory Local Government Pension Scheme (2014) which the employee will automatically join unless they choose to opt out.
Mobility: Personal transport within the Parish is a requirement.
